"Bells" is a series of lamps and side tables taken from "Assemblages", for which we had developed these bell-shaped lamps.
They are made out of hand-embossed copper, which is then lacquered. These high-level hand-made techniques enables us to produce objects with an incredible finish. It sounded ob
vious to us to extract these elements and to release them as single lamps and side-tables, which would be simpler and easier to handle than the "Assemblages".
The "bell" as a shape is simple and at the same time complex : it refers to some kind of archetype... conveying a certain softness and familiarity. On the opposite, when turned upside down, it gives a visual unstability to the tables.
